Justin Bieber has publicly shown his support for Chris Brown after Brown's recent arrest in London and subsequent release on bail. The arrest stems from an alleged assault that took place in February 2023 at the TAPE nightclub in Mayfair, London. Brown is accused of attacking music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila, resulting in "grievous bodily harm."

Following his release on a reported $6.7 million (£5.3 million) bail on May 21, 2025, Brown posted a photo on Instagram of himself disembarking from a private jet, captioning it "Cook, remain humble." Bieber, a longtime friend and collaborator of Brown's, commented on the post, simply writing, "welcome home." The comment quickly garnered over 16,400 likes, signaling Bieber's solidarity with Brown amidst his legal troubles.

The alleged incident at the TAPE nightclub reportedly involved Brown striking Diaw multiple times in the head with a bottle, causing lacerations, torn ligaments in his leg, and "permanent" damage, along with "severe emotional distress," according to court documents. Diaw has also filed a civil lawsuit against Brown, seeking £12 million in damages, and the incident was reportedly captured on CCTV.

Brown was arrested on May 15, 2025, at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, where he was staying while rehearsing for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX 20th anniversary tour. He appeared in court on May 21. He has not yet entered a plea. The charge of grievous bodily harm carries a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment under UK law. Despite the legal proceedings, Brown is scheduled to resume his tour, starting in Amsterdam on June 8, 2025.

Bieber's support for Brown isn't new. In 2019, Bieber publicly defended Brown, suggesting that the "With You" singer was a combination of Michael Jackson and Tupac Shakur. He also referenced Brown's past, including his 2009 felony assault against Rihanna, and urged people to reevaluate overlooking Brown's talent because of his past mistakes.

Bieber and Brown have a history of collaboration, having worked together on tracks like "Next to You" in 2011 and "Don't Check on Me" in 2019. Their friendship has been evident over the years, with Bieber consistently showing support for Brown during challenging times.

While Bieber's recent "welcome home" message has sparked mixed reactions online, it underscores the enduring bond between the two artists. Other celebrities have also shown support for Brown, with Sexxy Red commenting "They freed my man". As Brown prepares to resume his tour while facing legal proceedings, the situation remains one to watch closely.
