Aamir Khan has recently addressed the backlash surrounding his son Junaid Khan's film, "Loveyapa," and the prevalent issue of nepotism in Bollywood. In a candid interview, the actor shared his thoughts on the film's failure and the impact of the nepotism debate on its reception.

"Loveyapa," a remake of the 2022 Tamil film "Love Today," featured Junaid Khan alongside Khushi Kapoor. Despite the initial excitement and Aamir Khan's active promotion of the film, it failed to resonate with audiences and underperformed at the box office, earning only ₹8.85 crore worldwide.

Aamir Khan admitted that he was deeply affected by the film's failure. He revealed that he was more invested in the success of "Loveyapa" than his own projects, highlighting the emotional shift he experienced as a parent. He said, "I always felt that I was deeply attached to my work, almost obsessively, and what happened to my projects really mattered to me. But when Junaid entered the industry, I realised that a father's emotions take over. These days, I'm more concerned about Junaid's work. I want him to succeed, to be happy, and to get the recognition he deserves for the work he's doing. As a father, that's a very strong emotion.”

When asked about the reasons behind "Loveyapa's" failure, Aamir Khan pointed to the negative backlash the film received and its entanglement in the nepotism debate. He explained, "It was heavily trolled, and got dragged into the nepotism debate, labelled as a 'nepo kid' film. But Junaid and I are not like that." He further elaborated by mentioning his sister, Nikhat Khan, who started acting at the age of 50 and always secured roles through screen tests without his support.

Aamir Khan also shared his perspective on nepotism in the industry. He recounted his experience of trying to help his brother, Faisal Khan, in his career after his debut film flopped. Despite his efforts, Aamir realized that he couldn't significantly influence his brother's career, leading him to believe that genuine talent and audience acceptance are crucial for success in Bollywood. He emphasized that he has not interfered in Junaid's career and doesn't intend to, believing it's essential for Junaid to navigate the industry on his own merit.

Despite the setback, Aamir Khan remains supportive of his son and believes that Junaid has the talent and potential to succeed. He praised Junaid's ability to transform into his characters, noting that the role in "Loveyapa" was quite different from Junaid's real personality. Aamir also expressed confidence that Junaid will learn from the experience and continue to grow as an actor.

Aamir Khan's reaction to the backlash against "Loveyapa" reflects the challenges faced by star kids in the film industry. While nepotism can provide opportunities, ultimately, success depends on talent, hard work, and the ability to connect with the audience. Aamir Khan's stance underscores the importance of allowing young actors to carve their own path and prove their mettle in a competitive environment.
