Veteran actor and director Vivek Lagoo, the former husband of the late actress Reema Lagoo, has passed away at the age of 74. He breathed his last on the evening of June 19, 2025. Known for his contributions to both Hindi and Marathi cinema and theatre, his death marks the end of a quiet yet meaningful chapter in the entertainment industry.

The funeral is scheduled to take place on June 20 at the Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai. The news was first shared by film journalist Vickey Lalwani on Instagram.

Vivek Lagoo and Reema Lagoo's love story began in 1976. They met while working at the same bank and discovered a shared passion for theatre, which brought them closer. After dating for two years, they married in 1978. Reema adopted his surname after their marriage and continued to use it even after their separation. Though they separated a few years later, they maintained a cordial relationship until Reema's death in 2017. In an earlier interview, Vivek had described their separation as "an understanding to restructure our lives," emphasizing that their parting was amicable.

The couple's daughter, Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul, has followed in her parents' footsteps and is a respected name in the film industry. She is a writer known for her work on acclaimed projects like "Thappad" and "Scoop," carving her own identity as a storyteller. Mrunmayee often shared heartwarming moments with her father on social media, showcasing their close bond. She is his only surviving family member.

Vivek Lagoo was a familiar face in Marathi and Hindi cinema, known for his versatility and contributions to theatre, TV films, and shows. Some of his notable works include "Godawari Ne Kaay Kele" (2008), "Ugly" (2013), "What About Savarkar?" (2015), and "31 Divas" (2018).

Reema Lagoo, a beloved actress best known for her roles as a maternal figure in films like "Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!" and "Hum Saath-Saath Hain," passed away in 2017 due to a cardiac arrest. She was working on the TV series "Naamkarann" at the time and was rushed to the hospital after complaining of chest pain. Her sudden demise was a shock to the industry, as she had no prior history of heart ailments. Vivek Lagoo had expressed his shock at her sudden passing, noting that she had no history of heart problems.
