After a considerable wait, production for the second season of the hit Netflix K-drama, All of Us Are Dead, is reportedly gearing up to begin. The series, which captivated audiences worldwide with its gripping portrayal of high school students battling a zombie outbreak, is slated to commence filming in the third quarter of 2025, most likely in August, with an anticipated wrap-up in December.

The news comes as a welcome relief to fans who have been eagerly anticipating updates since the show's renewal in June 2022. All of Us Are Dead quickly became one of Netflix's most successful non-English original series, rivaling the popularity of Squid Game. However, despite the initial excitement surrounding the renewal, news regarding the second season has been relatively scarce, leading to some disappointment among viewers.

One of the primary reasons for the extended delay appears to be the shift in the show's narrative. The first season closely followed the storyline of the original webtoon, Now at Our School. With that source material exhausted, Season 2 will venture into uncharted territory, demanding considerable time for plot development and creative expansion. This move towards an original storyline suggests a broader scope for the upcoming season, potentially introducing new settings and characters beyond the confines of Hyosan High School.

While Netflix has yet to officially confirm the filming schedules, reports suggest that filming is scheduled to run from August through December 2025. This timeline indicates that the earliest fans can expect to see the new season would be in the second half of 2026, or possibly early 2027, given the extensive post-production work needed for a zombie-centric series.

Adding to the production updates, it's been noted that actress Roh Yeon Seo has withdrawn from Season 2 due to scheduling conflicts. She has been involved in filming the K-drama East Palace, which is expected to conclude in late July 2025.

Despite the delays and cast changes, several familiar faces are expected to return for the second season. Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun, and Lomon are all anticipated to reprise their roles. The return of Yoon Chan-young, whose character Cheong-san seemingly met his demise in the first season, has sparked considerable speculation and excitement among fans.

Director Lee Jae-kyoo previously hinted at the possibility of a second season, stating that various elements were intentionally left open to allow for future expansion of the story. He suggested that while the first season focused on humanity's survival, the second season could explore the survival of the zombies themselves, potentially introducing hybrid zombies and other intriguing developments.

As the cameras prepare to roll, anticipation continues to build for All of Us Are Dead Season 2. While the wait has been long, the promise of a fresh storyline, the return of beloved characters, and the introduction of new faces suggest that the next chapter in this thrilling zombie saga will be well worth the wait.
