Amidst much speculation, director Sudha Kongara has addressed rumors surrounding the release date of her upcoming film Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, and potential clash with Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan. Parasakthi is currently in production, and the media has been rife with reports suggesting it may release alongside Vijay's highly anticipated film.

Kongara clarified that the decision regarding the release date of Parasakthi is not hers alone to make. Speaking at a recent event, she stated that the producers and other stakeholders will ultimately decide when the film will be released. She added that she is aware of the reports about a potential Pongal clash between Parasakthi and Jana Nayagan, but she honestly doesn't know if it will happen.

The makers of Jana Nayagan have confirmed that their film will be released on January 9, 2026. While an official release date for Parasakthi is yet to be announced, it is speculated to be a Pongal release next year. If this is the case, Parasakthi might postpone its release by a few days from Jana Nayagan.

Kongara also took the opportunity to discuss casting choices for Parasakthi. She explained why she chose Sivakarthikeyan as the lead, noting that his "boy next door" looks, honesty, and sincerity align perfectly with the hero's personality in the film. She also praised Ravi Mohan, who plays the main antagonist, for his performance, highlighting the contrast between his character and Sivakarthikeyan's. According to Kongara, casting Ravi Mohan went against the grain because he is a great person.

Parasakthi is said to be inspired by true events, specifically the anti-Hindi agitations that took place in Tamil Nadu in 1965. The film features an ensemble cast including Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, and Atharvaa Murali. Sivakarthikeyan's character is rumored to be inspired by a student from Annamalai University who rose to prominence during the Anti-Hindi protests of the 1930s.

Kongara has remained tight-lipped about the film's political undertones but has stated that Parasakthi is fundamentally a story about brothers. She has also refuted rumors that the film deals with Hindi oppression, clarifying that its core narrative revolves around sibling bonds.

The technical crew for Parasakthi includes composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, and editor Sathish Suriya. Ganeshaa is credited with the additional screenplay, while Madhan Karky and Shan Karuppusamy are credited as additional dialogue writers. The film is being produced by Aakash Baskaran under Dawn Pictures.

As of July 2025, approximately 40 days of shooting are still pending for Parasakthi. The next schedule is set to begin in Pollachi, where key sequences involving the main cast will be filmed. The team is waiting for Sivakarthikeyan to return from his current shoot in Colombo for AR Murugadoss' Madharasi.
