The second single, "Maareesa," from the highly anticipated Tamil film Maareesan, starring Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil, has been released. The film is slated for release in July 2025.

Maareesan marks the second collaboration between Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, who previously starred together in Mari Selvaraj's critically acclaimed socio-political drama Maamannan (2023). Maamannan was a box-office success.

Directed by Sudheesh Sankar, Maareesan is described as a comedy thriller. The film is produced by RB Choudary under the Super Good Films banner, marking their 98th production.

The recently released trailer promises a blend of humor and suspense. Fahadh Faasil's character is portrayed as a stylish thief who encounters Vadivelu, a middle-aged man suffering from early-stage Alzheimer's disease. Fahadh's character attempts to con Vadivelu, leading to a series of chaotic events. Kovai Sarala plays a cop who is in pursuit.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for Maareesan. The lyrics are written by Madhan Karky and Sabarivasan Shanmugam. "Maareesa" is composed, arranged, and produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja. He also sings the song. M Kumaraguruparan mixed and mastered the track at The Mixystic G Studios in Chennai.

The film features a supporting cast including Vivek Prasanna, Renuka, and Sithara. Kalaiselvan Sivaji is the cinematographer, Sreejith Sarang is the editor, and Mahendran is the art director.

Fahadh Faasil will be seen as a stylish thief in Maareesan, in a role reminiscent of his character Cyber Patrick alias Battery from Vettaiyan (2024).

Maareesan is directed by Sudheesh Sankar, known for his work in Malayalam television. This film marks Sankar's return to film direction after his debut in 2009 with the Tamil action film Arumugam.
