Ahaan Panday's debut film, "Saiyaara," has become a box office success, but it has also sparked controversy. The film, directed by Mohit Suri and co-starring Aneet Padda, is facing accusations of plagiarism, with many claiming its plot is a copy of the 2004 South Korean film "A Moment to Remember". In the Korean film and "Saiyaara," the story revolves around a young couple whose lives are changed when the female lead is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's.

Adding to the controversy, the film's title track, composed by Tanishk Bagchi, has also been accused of plagiarism. Some listeners claim that the song sounds similar to One Direction's "Night Changes" and Jubin Nautiyal's "Humnava Mere".

Tanishk Bagchi has denied these allegations, stating in an interview with India Today that people "have nothing better to do" than to find fault in his work. He added that people are always looking for opportunities to bring him down. Bagchi addressed the musical similarities, saying that the chords are the same, and that the A minor scale only has about 3-4 chords, but every melody has a different soul. He insists that nothing was stolen and that the similarities are coincidental. Bagchi stated that his team focused on the emotion of the song, which is what resonated with listeners.

The director, Mohit Suri, has not directly addressed the plagiarism claims regarding the movie's plot. However, some argue that adapting foreign films is a common practice and that Suri has added his own unique touch to the story. Others contend that the similarities are too significant to be considered mere adaptation, calling it a blatant copy.

Despite the controversy, "Saiyaara" has performed well at the box office, grossing ₹256.75 crore within 11 days of its release. The title track has also gained popularity, holding the 4th spot on Spotify's global list and topping the charts in India.
