The ongoing feud between filmmakers Vivek Agnihotri and Anurag Kashyap has recently reignited, with Agnihotri asserting that Kashyap's past drinking habits negatively impacted their collaborative project, the 2007 film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. Kashyap has vehemently denied these allegations, calling Agnihotri a "liar" and stating that he was never even on the film's set.

Agnihotri, known for films like The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, initially brought up the issue of Kashyap's alleged alcoholism in an interview with Digital Commentary. He recounted that Kashyap, who was initially writing the movie, was "a heavy drinker back then and couldn't be trusted". Agnihotri claimed that Kashyap then brought Vikramaditya Motwane on board to assist with the writing, but their visions for the film differed, leading to disagreements. He further stated that the production house had to intervene, as Kashyap "became difficult to handle professionally, because only an alcoholic knows what an alcoholic goes through". According to Agnihotri, his film suffered due to Kashyap's alcoholism.

Kashyap responded to these accusations by calling Agnihotri a "jhootha aadmi" (liar). He refuted Agnihotri's claims of being on set during the filming of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, stating that the shooting took place in London while he was in India. Kashyap also claimed that Agnihotri did not want the script that he and Motwane had written, opting instead for his own writer to create what Kashyap termed a "crappy script".

Adding another layer to the dispute, Motwane has confirmed that he co-wrote a script with Kashyap for Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, which was ultimately altered. Agnihotri, however, has maintained that the script changes were due to creative clashes.

In response to Kashyap's denial, Agnihotri has stood by his comments regarding Kashyap's drinking habits, while also acknowledging Kashyap's contributions to Indian cinema. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Agnihotri stated, "Yes, I had talked about his drinking habits, and that's the truth. But I never said Anurag is a bad guy — he is a wonderful guy. His contribution to Indian cinema is unprecedented. There can be only one Anurag Kashyap. When Indian cinema's history is written, people will remember him". However, he reiterated that his film suffered because of Kashyap's alleged alcoholism and that Kashyap gave his work to Motwane.

Notably, Kashyap has spoken openly in the past about his struggles with alcohol. He has mentioned attending a de-addiction center and discovering new details about his writing process afterward.

The conflicting accounts and accusations have created a complex narrative surrounding the making of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal and the relationship between Agnihotri and Kashyap. While Agnihotri maintains that Kashyap's alcoholism negatively impacted the film, Kashyap vehemently denies the allegations and claims he was not even present during the shoot.
