The Mumbai shooting schedule for Salman Khan's upcoming war thriller, Battle of Galwan, has been called off at the last minute, leading to the dismantling of sets that had been meticulously constructed. The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, will now commence its production in Ladakh in September.

Originally, a 10-day shoot was scheduled to begin in early August at a Mumbai studio. Sets were erected in July, and Salman Khan had been undergoing rigorous high-altitude training and low-oxygen preparation for the physically demanding role. However, just 48 hours before filming was set to commence, the decision was made to cancel the Mumbai schedule.

Sources indicate that Salman Khan preferred to begin shooting directly in Ladakh to lend greater authenticity to the film's high-altitude action sequences. The Ladakh schedule promises intense combat training, night shoots, and simulated battle scenes designed to be realistic and emotionally charged. Khan has been preparing extensively for this schedule since May.

Battle of Galwan is based on the Galwan Valley clash that occurred in June 2020 and will see Salman Khan portraying Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who was martyred during the conflict. This film marks Apoorva Lakhia's first collaboration with Salman Khan and features Chitrangda Singh in a pivotal role. The film is expected to include complex hand-to-hand combat scenes in challenging terrain, night shoots, and scenes in melting snow and freezing waters, to honor the soldiers who fought without firearms at altitudes of over 15,000 feet.

The change in the shooting schedule has reportedly impacted the film's release plans. The filmmakers are likely to forgo the Eid 2026 release, a traditional window for Salman Khan's films, and are instead considering Bakri Eid (May 2026) or Independence Day (August 2026) as potential release dates. The focus is on ensuring production quality and strategic timing.

In related news, tensions have risen after comedian Kapil Sharma's Canadian eatery, Kap's Café, was attacked with gunfire for the second time in a month. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility, linking the attack to Salman Khan, who they consider their "arch-enemy". The gang cited Sharma's association with Khan, who Sharma had invited to inaugurate his Netflix show, as the motive behind the attack. This incident has put the Bollywood industry on notice.
