Aamir Khan's latest film, "Sitaare Zameen Par," a sequel to "Taare Zameen Par," made its digital debut on YouTube Movies via a pay-per-view model on August 1, 2025. Initially available for ₹100 in India, Aamir Khan Productions has announced a revised price for Independence Day.

Khan has expressed his desire to make "Sitaare Zameen Par" accessible to a broad audience, including those in remote areas, by using YouTube's extensive reach. He highlighted that YouTube has a substantial user base in India and that the increasing internet penetration and widespread adoption of UPI for digital transactions make it an ideal platform.

Aamir Khan has revealed that he would ideally want "Sitaare Zameen Par" to land on a streaming platform three months after its YouTube release. He previously stated that the movie would not be made available on home video at all.

The move to release "Sitaare Zameen Par" on YouTube first is a departure from the conventional Bollywood distribution model, which typically involves a theatrical release followed by an OTT premiere. Khan has been candid about why he avoided the OTT route, saying he never liked that model. He aims to create a dedicated PPV window between the theatrical and streaming phases. He believes the time is right to introduce this option, mirroring practices in global markets.

Khan also addressed concerns about piracy, stating that making films legally available at affordable prices can help reduce it. He hopes this initiative will give hope to creative people.

The film can be rented in India for Rs 100 via YouTube on smartphones, tablets, laptops, or Smart TVs. Viewers can find it by searching Sitaare Zameen Par, visiting the Aamir Khan Productions channel, or browsing YouTube's Movies section. To rent, users select the rent option, choose a payment method such as BHIM UPI, Google Play balance, or Visa/MasterCard, and confirm the transaction. Once rented, the film remains in the account's purchases section for 30 days. Viewers have 48 hours to watch it as many times as they like after starting playback.
