A controversy has erupted involving Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and singer Arijit Singh, who are accused of entering Rani Dhanya Kumari College in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, without permission. The incident allegedly occurred late at night on February 4, 2026, and has sparked debate after CCTV footage purportedly showing the duo on the premises went viral.
Ajay Adhikari, the principal of the government college, shared two videos on social media on Friday, claiming they showed Aamir Khan, Arijit Singh, and about 20 other people entering the college grounds after 1:00 a.m.. According to Adhikari, approximately ten motorcycles entered the campus around 1:05 a.m.. The group allegedly remained on the premises for about one hour and twenty minutes, engaging in activities such as playing badminton in the indoor hall and conducting some sort of shooting, all without official authorization. They reportedly left the campus around 2:25 a.m. The authenticity of the videos has not been independently verified.
Principal Adhikari later deleted the videos and his initial post, stating that he was "forced to delete the post". In his now-deleted statement, Adhikari expressed his personal respect for both Arijit Singh and Aamir Khan but questioned whether their fame entitled them to disregard regulations. He also raised concerns about the alleged commercial use of the government college campus without proper authorization and suggested that the night guard had been influenced to grant entry. Adhikari's post included the question, "Just because they are famous, does it mean they can do anything? Are government educational institutions so easy to disregard?". He said that he faced extreme pressure and repeated requests from multiple parties to remove the content. He also stated that the college has not decided to file a police complaint.
The alleged incident took place days before Aamir Khan visited Arijit Singh's residence in Jiaganj. A few days prior to the visit, Arijit Singh had announced his departure from playback singing, citing creative restlessness and a desire to explore other musical avenues as reasons for his decision.
Neither Aamir Khan nor Arijit Singh has yet officially addressed the allegations.
