The iconic song "Pehla Nasha" from the 1992 film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar continues to evoke nostalgia and fond memories, not just for audiences but also for those involved in its making. Recently, actress Pooja Bedi, who featured in the song, shared an anecdote about a rather challenging and humorous experience during the song's shoot.

The "Pehla Nasha" sequence featuring Pooja Bedi is famously known for its Marilyn Monroe-esque moment. The vision was to create a similar iconic image with Pooja, having her stand on a car while a fan blew air to lift her dress. However, things didn't go quite as planned. According to accounts, Pooja was instructed to hold her skirt down to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions. However, when the fan was switched on, she momentarily forgot the instruction, and her skirt flew upwards, revealing more than intended.

Farah Khan, the choreographer who took over the song after Saroj Khan's departure, humorously recalled the incident. She mentioned advising Pooja to hold her skirt down when the fan started. However, in the first take, Pooja didn't adhere to the instruction, causing the spot boy managing the fan to faint at the unexpected reveal. Farah jokingly said it was the first time she witnessed a thong. Despite the mishap, Farah praised Pooja's carefree and "bindass" attitude.

Pooja Bedi herself has spoken about the incident, describing it as a "fluke shot." She revealed that it was tough to shoot, as the dress wouldn't fly as expected initially. It was only by mistake that the iconic shot was captured. She also humorously added that during the shoot, whenever she pulled her dress down in the front, it would fly up from behind.

The actress has also shared how the film and the song significantly impacted her life and career, making her the "Marilyn Monroe of India." She fondly recalls how, even after 25 years of the film's release, the song continues to be played whenever she attends an event.

Interestingly, the making of "Pehla Nasha" wasn't without its initial hurdles. Composer Lalit Pandit revealed that when he and his brother Jatin first presented the song to director Mansoor Khan, he wasn't immediately convinced. Khan felt the song was too slow. However, after the duo re-recorded the song and played it to him on a Walkman, Mansoor Khan was instantly won over.

Udit Narayan, who sang the song with Sadhana Sargam, also shared that he initially felt unsure about doing justice to the song, as it was different from his usual style. However, he rehearsed well and eventually recorded it in just one or two takes. He added that the director had told him that singing the song flawlessly would make his career, and it indeed became one of the most prominent love anthems.

"Pehla Nasha" continues to be a cult classic, capturing the innocence and rush of first love. The song's enduring popularity is a testament to its timeless melody, heartfelt lyrics, and the memorable visuals that accompany it, including the iconic, albeit accidental, Marilyn Monroe moment featuring Pooja Bedi.
