In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan has announced the postponement of the audio launch for his upcoming movie, "Thug Life". The audio launch was originally scheduled for May 16th.

Haasan stated that the decision was made in view of the current situation at the nation's border and the heightened state of alert. He emphasized that it is a time for quiet solidarity rather than celebration, as the soldiers stand firm on the frontlines defending the country. A new date for the audio launch will be announced when the time is more appropriate.

The statement read, "In view of the developments at our nation's border and the current state of heightened alert, we have decided to reschedule the audio launch of Thug Life, originally planned for the 16th of May. As our soldiers stand firm on the frontlines with unflinching courage in defence of our motherland, I believe it is a time for quiet solidarity, not celebration. A new date will be announced at a later, more appropriate time. At this time, our thoughts are with the brave men and women of our armed forces who stand vigilant, safeguarding our nation. As citizens, it is our duty to respond with restraint and solidarity. Celebration must make way for reflection".

The tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated in recent days, following a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22 which killed 26 people. India responded with missile strikes on May 7, codenamed "Operation Sindoor," targeting what they claimed were terrorist infrastructure. Pakistan, however, stated that the strikes hit civilian areas. Since then, there have been reports of cross-border firing, drone incursions, and retaliatory attacks.

The situation has led to significant disruptions, including airport closures and flight cancellations. Twenty-four airports across India were shut down, and major airlines have suspended operations in affected areas. Blackouts have also been enforced in several cities. The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended indefinitely due to the ongoing conflict.

Kamal Haasan's decision to postpone the "Thug Life" audio launch reflects the mood of the nation. His statement resonates with many who believe that national security and solidarity are paramount during times of conflict. "Thug Life," directed by Mani Ratnam, is slated for release on June 5.
