Lara Dutta, the Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe, experienced a near-fatal incident during the filming of her debut movie, "Andaaz". The film, released in 2003, starred Dutta alongside Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra. While shooting a romantic song, "Rabba Ishq Na Hove," in Cape Town, South Africa, Dutta encountered a terrifying situation that could have ended tragically.

Raised in a non-film family, with her father serving in the Indian Air Force, Dutta's journey to Bollywood began after winning the Miss Universe crown in 2000. "Andaaz" marked her entry into the film industry, where she played a bold and energetic role that resonated with audiences. However, behind the scenes, a mishap occurred during the song sequence.

While filming near the ocean, a powerful wave struck the rock Dutta was standing on, causing her to lose her balance and fall into the water. Unable to swim, she was quickly swept away by the current. Her co-star, Akshay Kumar, known for his real-life stunts, immediately jumped into the water and rescued her.

Kumar was unaware that Dutta couldn't swim. He noticed Dutta being pulled away by the waters after a strong tide hit them both. He managed to grab her hand and pull her back to safety. The incident could have had a dire outcome, but fortunately, it turned into a story of survival and camaraderie.

Dutta was shaken by the incident, and the shoot was temporarily called off to provide her with first aid and keep her warm. However, she resumed shooting shortly after, demonstrating her professionalism and dedication.

Following "Andaaz," Lara Dutta established herself in Bollywood with a string of successful films, including "Masti," "No Entry," "Bhagam Bhag," "Partner," "Billu Barber," "Housefull," and "Don 2". Her versatile performances and charismatic presence made her a favorite among fans and filmmakers.

In her personal life, Dutta married tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi in 2011. She is set to appear in the comedy "Welcome to the Jungle" and will play Princess Kaikeyi in Nitesh Tiwari's "Ramayana". From nearly drowning on her debut film set to major upcoming releases, Dutta's journey is inspiring.
