Following the tragic death of a 14-year-old boy in Kandivali, Mumbai, actress Resham Tipnis has vehemently denied false rumors circulating online that her son, Manav, was the teenager who died by suicide. Tipnis, known for her roles in films like 'Baazigar' and TV sitcoms like 'Tu Tu Main Main' and 'Shrimaan Shrimati', took to social media to express her anger and clarify that her son is safe and healthy.
The rumors began after reports emerged about a 14-year-old boy who allegedly jumped from a high-rise building on Wednesday evening. According to police reports, the boy, a Class 9 student, lived with his mother on the 51st floor of the Sea Brook residential tower in Kandivali West. Initial investigations suggest that the boy had an argument with his mother about attending tuition classes. Upset after the disagreement, he reportedly left the apartment and jumped from a higher floor.
Social media was flooded with messages claiming that the deceased was Resham Tipnis' son, Manav. An Instagram page, Laughing Colours, wrongly identified Manav as the victim, further fueling the misinformation.
Resham Tipnis reacted strongly to the rumors, posting a message on her Instagram account to dispel the false claims. She wrote, "Please ignore this. Somebody is spreading fake news about my son Manav. He is fine and healthy by Bappa's blessings". The actress also expressed her intent to take legal action against those responsible for spreading the fake news, stating, "But whoever has done this is going behind bars. If anyone can help me find them, please comment". She also urged her followers to report the Instagram account that initially spread the misinformation.
The Kandivali police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the 14-year-old boy's death. According to officials, the boy's mother was alerted to the incident by a resident. Authorities are speaking with the mother, school staff, and others close to the family to determine if the boy was under any mental stress. An accidental death report has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Resham Tipnis married actor Sanjeev Seth in 1993, but the couple divorced in 2004. They have two children: Manav and Rishika. Tipnis' clarification has brought relief to her fans and well-wishers who were concerned by the false reports.
