Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming cinematic rendition of the 'Ramayana' is rapidly gaining momentum, emerging as one of the most ambitious and keenly awaited projects in Indian cinema. With a star-studded cast and a vision to present the epic tale on a global scale, the film is already generating immense excitement among fans.

The casting choices have particularly fueled anticipation. Ranbir Kapoor steps into the revered role of Lord Ram, a character that demands both gravitas and emotional depth. Known for his serious and immersive performances, Kapoor is expected to bring a unique dimension to the iconic figure. Sai Pallavi, celebrated for her natural acting and captivating screen presence, will portray Sita, adding grace and resilience to the character.

Adding to the film's star power, 'KGF' star Yash will be seen as Ravana. Sunny Deol is reportedly playing the role of Hanuman, completing the principal cast. This ensemble brings together some of the most talented and popular actors in the Indian film industry, promising a powerful and engaging cinematic experience.

The supporting cast is equally impressive, featuring a mix of seasoned actors and fresh faces. Lara Dutta will portray Kaikeyi, while Ravi Dubey is set to play Lakshman. Rakul Preet Singh will reportedly play Shurpanakha, with Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari. Veteran actor Arun Govil, who famously played Lord Rama in the 1987 TV series 'Ramayan', is said to be playing King Dasharath, adding a nostalgic touch to the project. Other notable names include Amitabh Bachchan as Jatayu (voice-over only), Anil Kapoor as King Janak (rumored), and Bobby Deol as Kumbhakarna (rumored).

Director Nitesh Tiwari envisions 'Ramayana' as a two-part epic, with the first installment slated for release during Diwali 2026 and the second part following in Diwali 2027. The film is being produced on a grand scale, with a reported budget of ₹835 crore for the first part alone. International-level VFX teams are working on the project, with post-production expected to last around 600 days, ensuring a visually stunning and immersive experience for the audience.

Yash commenced filming for his part as Ravana in Mumbai in April 2025, with a month-long schedule that includes scenes from both 'Part One' and 'Part Two'. Following solo sequences, he is expected to join Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor for combination scenes. The team is working expeditiously to wrap up the main filming for 'Ramayana: Part One' within a couple of weeks, with 'Part Two' immediately following.

Producer Namit Malhotra aims to bring Indian storytelling to a global platform with 'Ramayana'. The film seeks to showcase Indian tales at an international level, blending authentic storytelling with cutting-edge visual effects.
