The "hiatus" is officially over for the global K-pop sensation, BTS. With Suga's discharge from South Korea's mandatory military service on June 21, 2025, all seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—have now completed their national service duties. This marks a monumental moment for the band and their devoted ARMY, paving the way for a highly anticipated reunion and comeback.

In South Korea, all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to serve in the military for approximately 18-21 months, a measure designed to deter aggression from North Korea. While exemptions are granted to athletes, classical and traditional musicians, and dancers who have achieved top prizes in recognized competitions and are deemed to have enhanced national prestige, K-pop stars and other entertainers are generally not exempt. BTS was granted a postponement in 2020, allowing them to delay their service until the age of 30, but in October 2022, the group and their agency, Big Hit Entertainment (now part of HYBE Corporation), announced that all seven members would fulfill their duties.

The members enlisted at different times, beginning with Jin, the oldest, in December 2022. J-Hope followed in April 2023, and Suga began his alternative service as a social service agent in September 2023 due to a past shoulder surgery. RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook all enlisted in December 2023. Jin was discharged in June 2024, followed by J-Hope in October 2024, RM and V on June 10, 2025, and Jimin and Jung Kook on June 11, 2025.

Suga, the last member to be discharged, served as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service, and completed his service duties on June 18, 2025, after using his remaining leave days, with his official discharge date on June 21. Big Hit Entertainment did not organize any public event for Suga's release, citing concerns about overcrowding.

The completion of military service by all members has ignited immense excitement among fans worldwide. The ARMY has eagerly awaited this moment, and the internet has been abuzz with celebratory messages and anticipation for the group's return.

While details of their reunion are still under wraps, industry experts anticipate a full-group comeback in March 2026, possibly preceded by a pre-release single. J-Hope hinted at a world tour during an appearance on MBC's "The Manager," further fueling the anticipation. NH Securities, one of South Korea's largest investment firms, also expects BTS to hold their largest-ever world tour in 2026.

BTS's journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. They have broken numerous records, topped charts worldwide, and garnered a global fanbase with their music and message of love, hope, and self-acceptance. The members have also pursued solo endeavors during their time apart, showcasing their individual talents and keeping fans engaged. Now, with their military service completed, the stage is set for the next chapter in BTS's remarkable career, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what the future holds for the group.
