Sonakshi Sinha has responded to the postponement of her upcoming film, "Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness," with a pragmatic outlook, stating that such occurrences are common in the film industry. The film, which was originally slated for release on June 27, 2025, will now arrive in theaters on July 18, 2025. This decision was made to avoid clashing with other major releases, including Kajol's "Maa," and to ensure a wider audience reach.

Sinha addressed the release date shift in a statement to ETimes, emphasizing that the decision was made "in the interest of the film". She explained, "We want a wider audience. Films getting pushed is nothing new and I don't think it is a big deal". She further highlighted the frequency of such adjustments in Bollywood, remarking, "Humse pehle bhi kayi filmien aise push hui hai". She also referenced Ajay Devgn's "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha," which was also moved to avoid competition with "Kalki 2898 AD".

The makers of "Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness" also released a statement explaining the change. "With advice from our well-wishers in the fraternity, distributors, and exhibitors, we have collectively decided to push our release to the 18th of July so that we can reach a wider audience," the statement read. They expressed gratitude for the support received and assured fans that "July 18th will be worth the wait!".

"Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness" is a supernatural thriller directed by Kussh S. Sinha, marking his directorial debut. The film features Sonakshi Sinha in the titular role, alongside Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal, and Suhail Nayyar. The film's plot revolves around a horror-mystery narrative, delving into dark truths.

The decision to postpone the release came despite the film garnering significant attention and leading the pre-box office buzz against Kajol's "Maa". According to reports, "Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness" had a 55% higher booking rate with 73,000 likes on BMS compared to "Maa"'s 47,000 likes. However, the filmmakers opted for a strategic retreat to navigate the crowded release schedule.

Sonakshi Sinha also expressed her admiration for Kajol, stating, "Kajol is someone I've looked up to and admired. She's a fantastic actress and a lovely person". She noted the coincidence of both their films being in the supernatural space and expressed her intention to watch "Maa".

"Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness" is produced by Nicky Bhagnani, Vicky Bhagnani, Kinjal Ghone, Dinesh Gupta, and Ankur Takrani. The film's script is written by Pavan Kripalani and Ankur Takrani. Principal photography for the film took place in the UK, including London, and a short sequence was filmed in Mumbai.
