The much-anticipated "Hera Pheri 3" has been making headlines, and director Priyadarshan has now addressed the recent controversies surrounding the film. After years of delays, the movie is finally expected to begin production next year.
Priyadarshan clarified his involvement and commitment to the project, stating, "I am living in South India; whenever a film is signed, I will go to shoot it. I am only committed to Akshay Kumar to do this film (as a maker); I don't know anybody else". He emphasized that he doesn't believe in the "politics of cinema". He considers Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, and Akshay Kumar to be his close friends.
The director also addressed the initial concerns regarding Paresh Rawal's exit from the film, which had caused quite a stir. Rawal has now confirmed his return to the project. Priyadarshan mentioned that any previous differences of opinion between the actors have been resolved. He stated, "There was a difference of opinion between them; that has been sorted. This is all I know. I don't think anybody else is involved in it".
Adding to the behind-the-scenes developments, Priyadarshan revealed that Akshay Kumar had acquired the rights to the "Hera Pheri" franchise from Firoz Nadiadwala for ₹10 crore. He saw the paperwork and confirmed that the agreement covered the entire franchise, not just "Hera Pheri 3". According to Priyadarshan, he agreed to direct the film only after Akshay showed him the agreement concerning the intellectual property rights.
Earlier reports indicated that Akshay Kumar had allegedly filed a ₹25 crore defamation case against Paresh Rawal for breach of contract and "sabotaging" the film after Rawal initially quit the project. A source stated that Rawal displayed a "blatant disregard for professional integrity or commercial morality". Priyadarshan reacted to this legal notice, noting that Akshay, as the producer who invested money in the film, had the right to take legal action. Priyadarshan also mentioned that Paresh Rawal did not inform him or Akshay about his decision to leave the project.
Priyadarshan has recently wrapped up work on "Bhooth Bangla" and is starting another film with Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. He anticipates commencing work on "Hera Pheri 3" next year.
