Director Venky Atluri has confirmed that a sequel to his hit film Lucky Baskhar, starring Dulquer Salmaan, is in development. The original film, a period financial thriller set in Bombay during the late 80s and early 90s, featured Salmaan as a bank cashier who becomes entangled in financial scams. Lucky Baskhar, released in 2024, was a critical and commercial success, becoming one of Salmaan's most celebrated performances and entering the ₹100 crore club.

Atluri, in a recent interview, clarified sequel plans for both Lucky Baskhar and his other film, Sir, starring Dhanush. While a sequel to Lucky Baskhar is confirmed, Atluri stated that Sir will not have a sequel, as it was designed as a standalone narrative. Atluri's confirmation has sparked excitement among Dulquer Salmaan's fans, with many eagerly awaiting further details about the sequel.

Lucky Baskhar revolved around Baskhar, a lower-middle-class bank cashier navigating the world of financial scams while struggling to support his family. The film featured Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead, with a supporting cast including Ravi Prakash, Ajay Ghosh, and Rajendra Prasad. GV Prakash Kumar composed the music. The film received positive reviews for its engaging storyline, performances, and screenplay. Lucky Baskhar also received the Gaddar Award for the Third Best Feature Film.

Venky Atluri is currently filming Suriya 46 with Suriya, but has stated that the Lucky Baskhar sequel is a priority after wrapping up his current commitments. Suriya 46 is touted to be a family entertainer, starring Mamitha Baiju and produced by Sithara Entertainments.

Dulquer Salmaan will also be seen in Aakasam Lo Oka Tara, directed by Pavan Sadineni. The film's poster reveals a rustic, rural backdrop, and it will be released in multiple languages, including Malayalam and Hindi.

Fans can anticipate more updates on Lucky Baskhar 2 as Atluri progresses with his current projects. The sequel's direction and plot details are currently under wraps, but the confirmation has generated considerable anticipation.
