The Kerala police have filed a chargesheet indicating a lack of evidence to support the assault allegations against actor Unni Mukundan in the Vipin Kumar case. The chargesheet, submitted in court, states that the altercation between Mukundan and Kumar was limited to a scuffle and did not constitute a violent attack.
Vipin Kumar had filed a complaint alleging that Unni Mukundan assaulted him in the parking area of his apartment complex. Kumar claimed that the actor lured him to a deserted area, where he was allegedly pushed, kicked, and verbally abused. He stated that the confrontation stemmed from a social media post he made praising actor Tovino Thomas's film 'Narivetta', which was released around the same time as Mukundan's film, which underperformed. Kumar also claimed that the alleged attack left him needing medical attention and that he escalated the matter to the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA).
Unni Mukundan has consistently denied all allegations of physical violence. He admitted to an emotionally charged confrontation but maintained that he did not physically assault Kumar. During questioning by the Infopark police at his flat in Kochi, Mukundan stated that throwing a mirror was an emotional expression and not an act of violence. He also refuted the claim that he was offended by the praise for Tovino Thomas, dismissing any rivalry between them. Furthermore, Mukundan clarified that Vipin Kumar was not his personal manager, and he handles all official communications directly or through his production company, UMF. He also warned that he would take legal action against those who spread false claims about him.
According to the police findings, the confrontation between Unni Mukundan and Vipin Kumar escalated into a minor scuffle during which Kumar's glasses fell and broke. While superficial bruises may have resulted from the physical exchange, investigators concluded that there was no intent to cause serious harm. CCTV footage from the area reportedly did not show any aggressive physical act. The police also took detailed statements from both parties into account.
Adding another layer to the situation, a YouTuber, Rincy, who some media outlets claimed was Unni Mukundan's current PR manager, was arrested along with her boyfriend for alleged possession of MDMA. However, Unni Mukundan has clarified that he does not have a personal manager.
