Kiran Dubey, a familiar face on Indian television, gained significant recognition for her roles in popular shows like "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" and "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii". However, after enjoying considerable success, she stepped away from the limelight, leaving many wondering about her sudden disappearance from the television scene.

In a recent interview, Dubey opened up about her decision to take a break from television after her roles in iconic shows. She revealed that she wanted to take time to explore herself and understand herself better. This decision shaped both her personal and professional life.

Dubey's career began with beauty pageants, as she competed for Miss Pune in 1994. She made her television debut in 2001 with the Zee TV series "Sansaar". Following this, she appeared in numerous popular shows, including "Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin", "Devi", "Millie", and "Suno Har Dil Kuch Kehta Hai". She also showcased her talent in shows like "Koi Hai", "Special Squad", and "Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat". Dubey is also known for her roles in "Kkusum" and "Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na".

In 2009, Dubey decided to take a break from her television career and enrolled at the New York Film Academy to further hone her acting skills. She had always been interested in filmmaking and creative writing, considering writing scripts for films or TV series. After studying at the New York Film Academy, she returned to television in 2013 for her former role on the show "Jet Set Go".

Dubey's pursuit of diverse creative avenues led her to Hollywood. In 2015, she acted in and co-produced the docu-mystery film "Where Is She Now?". The film won several awards, including Best Feature Documentary and Best New Genre Film at the World Music & Independent Film Festival in 2016. Dubey herself won the Best Actress award at the Hollywood Film Competition in 2017 and received nominations as a supporting actress and producer at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema in the same year.

Now, Dubey is making her comeback to the Hindi film industry with her debut film, "5th September". She plays a school therapist in the film, a character she describes as having multiple shades and significant depth, even with limited screen time. The film is set entirely in Uttarakhand, adding a soulful touch to the project.

Dubey has said that she is very selective about her work and prefers projects that showcase the power of women. She chose her role in "5th September" because the script resonated with her, reminding her of the films of Rishikesh Mukherjee, filled with truth, innocence, and a warm message. She also appreciated the film's emphasis on the teacher-student bond. Working with veteran actors like Sanjay Mishra and Victor Banerjee in "5th September" has been a humbling experience for her.

Kiran Dubey's journey reflects a desire for self-discovery and exploration of various creative fields. From her initial success in television to her foray into Hollywood and her return to Hindi cinema, she has consistently sought meaningful and impactful roles. Her decision to take a break from television was not an exit but a strategic pause to explore new opportunities and rediscover herself.
