Pop superstar Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were spotted enjoying dinner together in Montreal on Monday, July 28, 2025. The sighting, first reported by TMZ, has ignited a flurry of online speculation, especially given Perry's recent split from actor Orlando Bloom.
Perry and Trudeau dined at Le Violon, a high-end restaurant in Montreal's Le Plateau neighborhood. The restaurant, known for its seafood-forward dishes and seasonal Quebec produce, recently ranked 11th on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants list. According to reports, the pair enjoyed the chef's tasting menu, which included lobster, tuna, lamb gnocchi, and beef tartare. Sources stated that they spent a couple of hours at the restaurant and were warm and friendly to the staff. They also made a point of visiting the kitchen to personally thank the team.
Eyewitnesses reported that Perry and Trudeau were seen chatting and appeared to be enjoying each other's company. Prior to their dinner, the pair was photographed taking a walk in Montreal's Mount Royal Park. Later in the evening, they reportedly had drinks at Taverne Atlantic.
The dinner occurred just weeks after Perry and Bloom confirmed their separation. The couple, who had been together on and off for nine years and engaged since 2019, announced their split on July 3, stating that they would focus on co-parenting their four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove. Sources indicated that the couple had been experiencing difficulties for years, with their busy schedules and conflicting priorities creating strain.
Trudeau also experienced a separation from his wife, Sophie Grégoire, in August 2023, after 18 years of marriage.
Le Violon confirmed that Perry and Trudeau dined at the restaurant during regular service hours and were seated alongside other patrons. A representative for the restaurant told People that the pair "seemed to have had a fantastic evening". The nature of Perry and Trudeau's relationship remains unclear, and neither party has issued an official statement regarding their Montreal outing. Perry is currently in Canada as part of her Lifetimes tour, with performances scheduled in Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City.
