Amitabh Bachchan Remembers Satish Shah: "Bhoothnath" Co-star Passes Away Too Soon, Leaving a Void

Veteran actor Satish Shah, a beloved figure in Indian entertainment, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74. Shah, known for his impeccable comic timing and memorable performances in films and television shows, died due to kidney failure. He had undergone a kidney transplant approximately three months prior to his passing.

The news of Shah's death has been met with widespread grief and tributes from colleagues, fans, and prominent figures alike. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who shared screen space with Shah in the 2008 film "Bhoothnath," expressed his sorrow in a heartfelt post on his personal blog.

Bachchan reflected on Shah's passing, writing, "Another day, another work, another quiet... Another one of us passes away... Satish Shah, a young talent, and has left us at a very young age". He further added, "And these times of the grim... it bodes not well to express in normalcy... but the show must go on... and so it does, as does life".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the late actor, lauding his talent and contributions to Indian entertainment. In a post on X, Modi wrote, "He will be remembered as a true legend of Indian entertainment. His effortless humor and iconic performances brought laughter into countless lives. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti".

Several other Bollywood stars, including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Anupam Kher, and R Madhavan, have also expressed their grief over the loss of Satish Shah.

Anupam Kher, visibly emotional, shared a video expressing his sorrow and remembering Shah's kindness. Madhavan shared a photo with Shah and Mandira Bedi, writing, "The heavens will be a merrier and a happier place now... You will be missed so very much, Satish Ji".

Born in 1951, Satish Shah built a remarkable career spanning decades. He was known for his versatile acting and ability to blend humor with heart, making him a household name. Some of his most notable works include films like "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro" (1983), "Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi" (1984), "Kal Ho Naa Ho" (2003), "Main Hoon Na" (2004), "Fanaa" (2006), and "Om Shanti Om" (2007). He was also widely recognized for his role in the popular television series "Sarabhai vs Sarabhai".

The P.D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre released a statement regarding Shah's death, noting that they received an emergency call and promptly sent an ambulance to his residence. Despite their best efforts, the medical team was unable to revive him.

Satish Shah is survived by his wife, Madhu Shah. His last rites will be held on October 26. His legacy as a gifted actor and a warm human being will continue to be cherished by all who knew him and admired his work.
