The Indian entertainment industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor Satish Shah, who passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74 due to kidney failure. Shah, best known for his role as Indravadhan Sarabhai in the iconic TV show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, breathed his last at his home in Bandra East. His contribution to comedy has left a lasting impact on both television and film.
The funeral took place on October 26 at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai. Before the ceremony, his body was kept for antim darshan at his Bandra home. Friends, family, and admirers gathered to pay their last respects to the beloved actor.
Among those present were his Sarabhai vs Sarabhai co-stars, including Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghavan, JD Majethia, Aatish Kapadia, Deven Bhojani, and Paresh Ganatra. Rupali Ganguly was visibly emotional, while Sumeet Raghavan shared a heartfelt video on social media, remembering Shah as a father figure. According to reports, Jackie Shroff, Dilip Joshi, Ali Asgar, Kunal Kohli, David Dhawan, Naseeruddin Shah, Johnny Lever, and Aanjjan Srivastav also attended the funeral to pay their respects.
In a moving tribute, the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai team, including JD Majethia, Aatish Kapadia, Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghavan, Rajesh Kumar and Deven Bhojani, bid an emotional farewell to Satish Shah by singing the show's title track.
Satish Shah's manager, Ramesh Kadatala, shared that the actor collapsed while having lunch on October 25. He revealed that Shah collapsed after taking the first bite of food and was declared dead upon reaching the hospital.
Actor and filmmaker Sachin Pilgaonkar revealed that Satish Shah underwent a kidney transplant a couple of months ago to extend his wife's life, as she has been suffering from Alzheimer's. Sachin also mentioned receiving a text from Satish Shah just hours before his death, highlighting the suddenness of the event.
Satish Shah's career spanned several decades, beginning with films like Bhagwan Parshuram (1970). He gained recognition with Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and went on to star in numerous films and television shows. He was dubbed the 'Comedy King' in the 80s for his roles in Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and continued his success with shows like Filmi Chakkar, Ghar Jamai, and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.
