Emraan Hashmi discusses his cameo in Aryan Khan's 'The Ba***ds Of Bollywood' and its unexpected popularity.

Emraan Hashmi is basking in the glow of his scene-stealing cameo in Aryan Khan's directorial debut, "The Ba***ds of Bollywood," which premiered on Netflix on September 18, 2025. The actor's appearance in the series has resonated strongly with audiences, sparking a wave of nostalgia for his earlier "lover boy" roles.

In the show, Hashmi appears in episode three, where he is met by Raghav Juyal's character, Parvaiz, a devoted fan of Hashmi. In a memorable moment, Parvaiz unexpectedly launches into a rendition of "Kaho Na Kaho" from Hashmi's 2004 film, "Murder," blending Hindi and Arabic lyrics. Hashmi's character in "The Ba***ds of Bollywood" is an intimacy coordinator, a nod to his past roles in films like "Murder," "Zeher," "Aashiq Banaya Aapne," "Kalyug," "Aksar," and "Gangster".

Hashmi told PTI, "It was a fun scene to do... It just got the recognition and the attention that I didn't know it was going to get, but it's great. I'm happy for everyone who's part of the show. It just has blown up and become this viral thing". He also acknowledged the fans' reaction to the cameo, stating, "This is the image that people used to love me for, they were missing it for a while and then they saw a little glimpse of it and it kind of just blew up. So yeah, it's fun".

The actor also revealed that the scene was inspired by a real-life incident. In an interview with SCREEN, Hashmi shared that the writer, Bilal, a close friend, had seemingly drawn inspiration from one of Hashmi's birthday celebrations with a fan. He recounted, "This was below my building...there's this fan who started off singing and just wouldn't stop, and there was this embarrassed expression on my face".

The series, a satirical take on Bollywood, features Lakshya as Aasman Singh, an outsider navigating the film industry, and Sahher Bambba as Karishma Talwar. The cast also includes Bobby Deol, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, and Vijayant Kohli, with Rajat Bedi and Gautami Kapoor. Several Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, and Karan Johar, make cameo appearances.

Meanwhile, Hashmi is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film "Haq," a legal drama co-starring Yami Gautam, which is set to release in theaters on November 7. The film is inspired by the Shah Bano case of 1985 and explores the intersection of personal faith and constitutional law. Hashmi plays Mohd Ahmed Khan, and Yami Gautam plays Shah Bano Begum.
