Ramya Krishnan is generating buzz with her never-before-seen avatar in Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming horror-comedy, "Police Station Mein Bhoot". Varma recently revealed Krishnan's striking gothic look through a series of posters, sparking intrigue and anticipation for the film.
The posters showcase Krishnan in a dark and intense look, complete with heavy kajal, dark lipstick, messy hair, a nose ring, and unconventional jewelry. In one image, she is seen seated inside a police station, confidently holding a cigarette. Varma has clarified that Krishnan is not playing a ghost in the film, further fueling speculation about her character's role. Some observers suggest her appearance hints that she might be playing an occult specialist. Another picture shows the actress sitting on a motorcycle.
"Police Station Mein Bhoot" features Manoj Bajpayee and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles. The film marks Varma's return to the horror genre and his reunion with Bajpayee after nearly three decades, following their collaboration in the 1998 film "Satya". Varma expressed his excitement about working with Bajpayee again, noting the thrill and nostalgia of their reunion. He added that fear becomes most frightening when it challenges the highest authority of protection, and a police station is the ultimate symbol of power.
The film's concept revolves around a police station becoming haunted after a deadly encounter, causing the police officers to flee from the ghosts of gangsters. Varma has stated that the film will be a fun-filled horror experience with cutting-edge VFX and spine-chilling effects. Genelia Deshmukh shared her excitement about working with Manoj Bajpayee, describing it as a "scarily good time".
"Police Station Mein Bhoot" also marks the first collaboration between Ram Gopal Varma and Ramya Krishnan in their 36 years in the film industry. Krishnan was recently in the limelight for her role in the "Baahubali" franchise, which had a re-release in theaters on October 31.
Varma is also promoting the re-release of his 1989 film "Shiva," which launched his career, and another iconic film, "Rangeela," which will be re-released later this month on November 28.
The shooting for "Police Station Mein Bhoot" commenced in September. The film is expected to be released in 2026.
