Zayed Khan was visibly emotional at the last rites of his mother, Zarine Khan, who passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, in Mumbai. Zarine Khan, the wife of veteran actor and filmmaker Sanjay Khan and mother to Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, and Farah Ali Khan, was 81 years old. She had been suffering from age-related ailments for some time.
The funeral took place in Juhu, with family members including Sanjay Khan, Sussanne Khan, and Zayed Khan present. A video circulating online showed Zayed Khan being comforted by family and friends as he grieved the loss of his mother. Zarine was carried for her final journey from her Juhu home in an ambulance decorated with white flowers.
Zarine Khan's death was also reportedly due to a sudden cardiac arrest. News of her demise prompted an outpouring of condolences from Bollywood personalities, many of whom visited Sanjay Khan's residence to pay their respects. Among those seen were Shabana Azmi, Neelam Kothari, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Jaya Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, and Sussanne Khan's ex-husband, Hrithik Roshan. Aly Goni, along with Jasmin Bhasin, and Seema Sajdeh also attended to offer their condolences.
Zarine Khan, born Zarine Katrak, married Sanjay Khan in 1966 after they met in the 1960s. She briefly appeared in the Hindi film "Tere Ghar Ke Samne" (1963) with Dev Anand. She is survived by her husband, Sanjay Khan, and their four children: Sussanne Khan, Zayed Khan, Simone Arora, and Farah Ali Khan. Sussanne was formerly married to actor Hrithik Roshan. Farah Khan Ali is married to DJ Aqeel, and Simone Arora is married to businessman Ajay Arora. Zayed Khan is married to Malaika.
