Enrique Iglesias' two sold-out concerts in Mumbai at the end of October 2025 have injected a substantial $10 million into Maharashtra's tourism sector. The "India Tour 2025" marked the Spanish singer's return to the country after 13 years, with performances on October 29 and 30 at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
The concerts drew over 25,000 fans each night, including several Bollywood celebrities. Celebrities such as Malaika Arora, Vidya Balan, and Rakul Preet Singh were spotted enjoying the music. The electric atmosphere was enhanced by fans waving lights and banners throughout the 90-minute sets. Iglesias performed a medley of his chart-topping hits, including "Hero," "Bailamos," "Escape," "Subeme La Radio," "Heartbeat," "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," and "Bailando," with the crowd singing along.
The economic impact of the concerts extends beyond ticket sales. International visitors contribute to India's economy through spending on hotels, restaurants, and local attractions. This generates opportunities for repeat visits and long-term tourism growth. The increased activity expands the local tax base.
To facilitate smooth travel for concertgoers, the Mumbai Metro Line 3 extended its services until midnight on both concert days. The last trains from Aarey and BKC to Cuffe Parade ran until midnight.
The success of Enrique Iglesias' concerts aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a "concert economy," emphasizing India's potential as a hub for live entertainment. Hosting global acts and improving event infrastructure can strengthen India's global entertainment appeal. Coldplay's January 2025 concerts in Mumbai, for example, generated 33 times more domestic accommodation searches on Agoda's platform than the week before the announcement. Agoda reported a 160 percent rise in domestic accommodation searches for Mumbai around the dates of Iglesias' shows.
The live event segment in India has been evolving rapidly, surpassing INR12,000 crore in 2024 and projected to grow at a CAGR of around 19% over the next three years. India's concert economy saw significant growth in 2024, with 70 to 80 concert days attracting audiences of 10,000 or more.
Enrique Iglesias' "India Tour 2025" is being hailed as a landmark in the country's booming live music scene. The tour also included shows in Bengaluru and Delhi.
