Neha Dhupia's Gut-Friendly Bedtime Drink: A Simple Recipe That Works Wonders, According to the Actress.

In a recent Instagram post, actress Neha Dhupia shared her go-to bedtime drink recipe, which she credits for improving her gut health and reducing bloating. The 45-year-old fitness enthusiast often shares glimpses into her diet and workout routines, emphasizing the importance of simple, home remedies rooted in Indian cuisine.

Dhupia describes the drink as a "warm, fuzzy" concoction that she finds deeply comforting before bed, noting it aids digestion and promotes better sleep. The recipe involves infusing boiled water with common kitchen ingredients: saunf (fennel seeds), ajwain (carom seeds), jeera (cumin), and chopped ginger. While optional, she personally enjoys adding lemon. The mixture is boiled for approximately five minutes, after which it is ready to drink.

Dhupia stated that this drink "works like magic" for her, helping to reduce bloating. She also credited her nutritionist, Richa, for recommending the drink. She encourages her followers to consult with a dietician, nutritionist, or physician before trying it themselves, stressing the importance of understanding what works best for individual bodies.

Dietician Sohini Banerjee explains that the drink's ingredients stimulate digestive enzymes and reduce gastrointestinal distress. Saunf possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that alleviate GI distress. Ajwain contains active enzymes that improve the flow of stomach acids, which can relieve indigestion, bloating, and gas. Jeera increases gut enzyme activity and enhances digestion, while ginger, rich in gingerol, offers anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory, and digestive benefits. Lemon encourages the production of digestive juices in the gut. Cumin seeds also contain antioxidant compounds with anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic properties.

Dhupia has previously shared wellness tips, including a 21-day anti-inflammation challenge. That initiative, developed in collaboration with dietician Richa Gangani, involved a daily drink made with haldi (turmeric), ginger, and kalonji (nigella seeds) to ease internal inflammation and swelling. This mixture was blended with water, frozen into ice cubes, and consumed daily with hot water and a teaspoon of MCT oil, or alternatives like coconut oil, ghee, or olive oil.

While Dhupia's bedtime drink and other health recommendations have gained popularity, experts emphasize that they should complement a balanced diet. Relying solely on drinks for detoxification may not be sufficient. A healthy gut is essential for digestion, immunity, and overall vitality, and can lead to reduced inflammation, enhanced energy levels, and better skin health. Habits such as eating slowly, staying hydrated, and addressing food sensitivities are also crucial for gut health.
