Chiranjeevi Targeted: Deepfake Pornography Surfaces, Actor Seeks Cybercrime Unit's Help to Investigate and Remove Content.

Hyderabad: Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi has filed a complaint with the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police after AI-generated deepfake pornographic videos using his likeness surfaced on adult websites. The actor alleges that the videos are causing severe damage to his reputation and violating his right to privacy and dignity.

According to the complaint filed on October 27, 2025, certain websites have been publishing and distributing deepfake content that falsely depicts Chiranjeevi in obscene sexual acts. The actor stated that the videos are entirely fake and created using artificial intelligence, commonly referred to as deepfake pornography, which unlawfully manipulates and morphs his facial features and persona into explicit content. He also noted that the doctored clips depict him with a Bollywood actress.

Chiranjeevi, a highly respected figure in the film industry and a former Union Minister, expressed deep concern over the malicious use of AI to defame public figures for profit. He emphasized that his films consistently reflect themes of integrity, compassion, and resilience, making him one of the most admired personalities in the film fraternity. He fears these videos distort public perception and undermine decades of goodwill.

In his complaint, Chiranjeevi provided details of the websites hosting the content and asserted that these actions violate his right to privacy, reputation, and dignity as protected under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. He also stated that the publication of these videos is not an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern of organized and deliberate conduct. He added that websites cross-promote, repost, and mirror content, indicating an organized network.

The actor is seeking immediate criminal and technical investigation against the accused websites and all parties involved in creating, uploading, hosting, and disseminating the AI-generated pornographic content. He has also requested urgent blocking, takedown, and removal of all such content from the internet, including mirror and affiliated websites.

The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. These include Sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, Sections 79, 294, 296 and 336(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Sections 2(c), 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. An investigation has been initiated to identify those responsible for creating and spreading the deepfake videos.

Chiranjeevi had previously obtained an ad-interim injunction from the City Civil Court to protect his identity against unauthorized exploitation. This order protects the actor's publicity and personality rights, and its violation counts as contempt. The court order bars media outlets, YouTube channels, and online platforms from using his name or image for commercial purposes.

This incident highlights the growing concerns surrounding deepfake technology and its potential for misuse, particularly in creating defamatory and obscene content. The case underscores the need for stricter regulations and increased awareness to combat the spread of deepfake pornography and protect individuals from its damaging effects.
