Alia Bhatt Absent From "Dining With The Kapoors": Armaan Jain Explains the True Reason Behind Her Absence

The recently released trailer for Netflix's "Dining With The Kapoors" has generated significant buzz, offering a glimpse into the lives of Bollywood's iconic Kapoor family. The show, set to release on November 21, 2025, features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Rima Jain, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Armaan Jain, Aadar Jain, and Navya Naveli Nanda. However, one prominent member of the family was noticeably absent: Alia Bhatt, wife of Ranbir Kapoor. This sparked immediate curiosity among fans, who flooded social media with questions about her absence.

Armaan Jain, producer of "Dining With The Kapoors", has finally addressed the reason behind Alia Bhatt's absence. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Jain explained that Bhatt had prior, unavoidable work commitments. "She had prior commitments to shoot," he stated. Adding a touch of Bollywood flair, he quoted Raj Kapoor, saying, "I might sound filmy, but like Raj Kapoor said, 'work is worship'".

Director Smriti Mundhra supported Jain's explanation, highlighting the Kapoor family's strong work ethic. She noted that scheduling conflicts are common in a family filled with actors and filmmakers. "That is the one thing about this family. They are all workaholics and they all love what they do," Mundhra said. She further explained that while everyone tries to prioritize family time, it's understandable when one or two members can't make it due to work obligations. "There is always an understanding that everyone makes an attempt to gather and prioritise as much as possible, but inevitably there's one or two people who can't make it because of work—and that's always allowed," she added. Jain echoed this sentiment, stating that such scheduling issues are common, even during Christmas and Diwali get-togethers.

Despite not being able to attend the family gathering, Alia Bhatt showed her support for the show. She shared the trailer on her Instagram, congratulating Armaan Jain for bringing the family together and expressing that it looked like "too much fun".

"Dining With The Kapoors" promises to offer viewers a candid and heartfelt glimpse into the Kapoor family's dynamics. The special aims to showcase the family's traditions, candid conversations, and memories, particularly those surrounding Raj Kapoor's legacy, as the luncheon was arranged to honor what would have been his 100th birth anniversary. The show will feature fun, food, and humor, providing a rare look at the Kapoor's off-screen personalities.

Alia Bhatt, a British actress of Indian descent, is married to Ranbir Kapoor and has a daughter named Raha. Born into the Bhatt family, she has become one of India's highest-paid actresses, known for her roles in Hindi films. Despite her absence from "Dining With The Kapoors", the show is still highly anticipated, with fans eager to see the Kapoor family come together to celebrate their legacy.
