Mumbai, January 15, 2026 – Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor found himself in a situation requiring a public apology after a video surfaced showing him nearly bumping into a man at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The incident, which occurred earlier this week, quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions across social media platforms.
According to eyewitness accounts and the now-circulating video, Kapoor was navigating through a crowded section of the airport when he inadvertently came close to colliding with another passenger. While the contact was minimal, if any, the other individual seemed surprised by the near miss.
In the immediate aftermath, Kapoor is seen in the video pausing briefly, before offering an apology to the man. While the audio is somewhat unclear, lip-reading suggests Kapoor said, "Sorry, didn't see you there." The video then shows Kapoor continuing on his way, presumably to catch his flight.
The footage was captured by a bystander and uploaded to social media, where it rapidly gained traction. Some users criticized Kapoor for not being more attentive to his surroundings, while others defended the actor, attributing the incident to the chaotic nature of airports and the challenges of navigating through bustling crowds.
Kapoor's team released a statement addressing the incident. "Shahid was indeed at the airport and, like anyone else, was trying to make his way through a crowded space. He did acknowledge the situation and offered a genuine apology to the individual involved. There was no intention to cause any offense or inconvenience," the statement read.
The actor himself also took to social media to express his regret. "Hey guys, saw the video. Totally unintentional. Airports are crazy crowded, and I was trying to keep up. Apologies to the gentleman I almost bumped into! Hope he's doing okay," Kapoor tweeted.
This isn't the first time the actor has faced scrutiny for his behavior in public spaces. In 2019, Kapoor was criticised for leaving his car door open after exiting a vehicle at the same airport.
The incident comes at a busy time for Kapoor, who is reportedly juggling multiple film projects and endorsements. He was last spotted with his wife, Mira Rajput, at the same airport in June 2025.
The Mumbai Airport is known for being one of the busiest in India, handling a massive volume of passengers daily. This often leads to congestion and can make navigating the terminals challenging for travelers, including celebrities.
