Despite swirling rumors of potential delays, the release date for Yash's highly anticipated film, "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups," remains unchanged, setting the stage for a box office clash with "Ramayana" co-star Ranbir Kapoor's "Love And War". "Toxic" is slated to hit screens on March 19, 2026, while "Love and War" is scheduled for release just a day later, on March 20, 2026.
The makers of "Toxic" have firmly refuted any speculation regarding postponement, reaffirming the original release date. This clarification comes after reports surfaced about alleged creative differences between Yash and director Geetu Mohandas, along with rumors of reshoots. However, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh contacted KVN Productions, the production house behind "Toxic," and confirmed that the film is on track for its scheduled release.
"Toxic" has generated considerable buzz as Yash's first project since the blockbuster "KGF" franchise. The film is touted as an action-drama with the tagline "A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups". Yash himself conceived the title, explaining that it reflects the "toxic" situations and confusions prevalent in the modern world. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, "Toxic" has been shot simultaneously in English and Kannada and will be dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam to reach a wider audience. The movie is produced jointly by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under the banners of KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. The film is set against the backdrop of a drug cartel in Goa and themes of power and morality. The cast includes Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor's "Love And War," directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, promises to be an epic romantic drama set against the backdrop of wartime India. The film features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. "Love and War" was initially slated for a Christmas 2025 release but was later moved to March 20, 2026. The film revolves around two army officers, played by Ranbir and Vicky, who become rivals for the affections of a spirited woman, played by Alia. As their destinies intertwine amidst the chaos of war, the film explores themes of love, loyalty, sacrifice, friendship, and betrayal.
Adding another layer to this cinematic clash is the fact that Yash and Ranbir Kapoor are also co-starring in Nitesh Tiwari's "Ramayana," where Ranbir plays Lord Rama and Yash portrays Ravana. The first part of "Ramayana" is scheduled for release on Diwali 2026, with the second part following on Diwali 2027. This makes the impending box office face-off between "Toxic" and "Love and War" even more intriguing, as fans will see Yash and Ranbir competing against each other in different roles.
The clash between "Toxic" and "Love and War" is expected to be a significant event in the Indian film industry, with both films boasting star-studded casts, accomplished directors, and high audience anticipation. The coming months will reveal which film emerges victorious in this battle of the box office.
