"Jatadhara" Receives 'A' Certificate from Censor Board Ahead of Release
The upcoming supernatural thriller "Jatadhara," starring Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha, has been granted an 'A' (Adults Only) certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This signifies that the film is intended for mature audiences and may contain intense themes. The film is slated to release in theaters on November 7, 2025, in both Telugu and Hindi.
The makers of "Jatadhara" confirmed the certification on social media, stating, "It is an 'A' for #Jatadhara. A battle that you have never seen. A cinema experience you will never forget. Witness #Jatadhara in theatres from Nov 7th 2025 in Telugu & Hindi".
"Jatadhara" explores the classic battle between good and evil, devotion and greed. Sudheer Babu plays a skeptic who initially dismisses supernatural beliefs but is later confronted by dark forces. Sonakshi Sinha makes her Telugu debut as the powerful antagonist, a vengeful spirit guarding a treasure. The film delves into a world of black magic and ancient rituals, where supernatural powers are used as weapons. The story revolves around a "Dhan Pishachini," embodied by Sinha, who has been guarding a gold treasure for centuries.
Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, "Jatadhara" features a talented ensemble cast, including Divya Khossla, Shilpa Shirodkar, and Indira Krishna. The film is produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal, Shivin Narang, Aruna Agarwal, Prerna Arora, Shilpa Singhal, and Nikhil Nanda.
The recently released trailer offers viewers a glimpse into a dark and mystical world. It hints at a narrative rooted in Indian folklore and supernatural elements, where black magic is a potent force and ancient myths shape destinies. The film's narrative reflects themes of ambition, greed, and the enduring influence of ancient rituals. It examines how stories and curses from the past continue to impact the present, as restless spirits and old grievances are awakened by those seeking fortune.
Producer Prerna Arora has emphasized that "Jatadhara" is a raw, spiritually intense, and emotionally driven film that goes beyond black magic and fear. She stated, "At its core, the film is about faith, innocence, and how ordinary people get pulled into extraordinary forces. The horror here isn't just visual—it's psychological, moral, and deeply human. We're not trying to entertain darkness; we're confronting the consequences of it". Arora also mentioned that the character of Dhan Pisachini took three months of research to develop.
"Jatadhara" draws inspiration from the mysteries surrounding the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple, weaving real-life lore into a fictional narrative. The story explores a metaphysical and spiritual conflict centered around the temple's mysterious powers, with Sudheer Babu's character facing off against Sonakshi Sinha's embodiment of darkness and greed.
The climax sequence of "Jatadhara" was filmed continuously for 24 hours over three days, showcasing the extraordinary commitment of the actors. The film promises to be a visually powerful and emotionally layered experience, blending faith, fear, and human vulnerability.
