Gurupurab 2025, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru, was celebrated with traditional fervour and devotion on the full moon day of Kartik Purnima. The auspicious occasion, also known as Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav, emphasizes Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings of peace, equality, and tolerance. Devotees across the globe commemorated the day by offering prayers and visiting Gurudwaras, with celebrations continuing throughout the day and night.
This year, several Bollywood personalities were spotted at Gurudwaras in Mumbai, seeking blessings on this pious occasion. Among them were Kareena Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, along with her husband Angad Bedi and their son Guriq Singh Dhupia Bedi, and Sunita Ahuja.
Kareena Kapoor was seen at a Gurudwara, offering prayers. The actress donned a traditional parrot green salwar suit set with golden embroidery and a matching double-shaded chiffon dupatta, covering her head in respect. Before entering the religious premises, she greeted her fans outside. However, she faced some criticism on social media for wearing sunglasses during her visit to the Gurudwara.
Neha Dhupia, Angad Bedi, and their four-year-old son Guriq Singh Dhupia Bedi, also visited a Gurudwara. Videos of the family seeking blessings have gone viral on social media.
Sunita Ahuja, wife of actor Govinda, also marked the occasion with a visit to the Gurudwara. She was seen in a beige salwar suit, her head covered with a dupatta, greeting the paparazzi and extending wishes on the auspicious occasion. Govinda was not present with her. Recently, Sunita and Govinda have been in the news due to speculation of marital issues.
Adding to the celebrations, Prince Narula and Yuvika Chaudhary revealed the face of their daughter, Ikleen, on Gurupurab. The couple visited a Gurudwara in Mumbai, where they posed for photographers, proudly introducing their daughter to the world. Yuvika wore a radiant red traditional outfit, while Prince and Ikleen twinned in white.
The celebrations of Gurupurab include the serving of Kada Prasad, a special offering made of flour, ghee, and sugar. The day is devoted to the Divine, with an emphasis on equality and tolerance, reflecting Guru Nanak Dev’s lifelong message of peace.
