Netflix has officially confirmed that Squid Game Season 3, the final chapter of the global hit series, will premiere on June 27, 2025. Picking up where Season 2 left off, the final season finds Gi-hun back in the clutches of the game after a failed rebellion. Haunted by betrayal and the death of his closest ally, Jung-bae, he reenters the arena determined to end the games from within.
The newly released teaser hints at high-stakes challenges, emotional twists, and the continuation of Gi-hun's mission to destroy the deadly game from within. The teaser opens with the line, “It's time to play one last time,” accompanied by visuals of familiar players and unsettling glimpses of the upcoming games. In a chilling moment, a baby's cry is heard at the end, sparking fan speculation. In another scene, the infamous gumball machine reappears, now dispensing red and blue balls that hint at a game-changing mechanic in the new season.
Netflix revealed that “Gi-hun persists with his goal to put an end to the game, while the Front Man continues onto his next move and the surviving players' choices will lead to graver consequences with each round". The Front Man, once disguised as Player 001, has reasserted control over the operation. The final season is set to explore how Hwang In-ho became the Front Man.
Returning cast members include Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, and Wi Ha-jun, with several new players joining the final round. Alongside Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun, the cast includes Wi Ha-jun reprising his role as detective Hwang Jun-ho, who continues to unravel the secrets of the game's dark network. Hwang Jun-ho is still investigating the organization, unaware of potential betrayal within his reach.
Season 3 also expands the storyline by introducing a possible mother-son duo facing tragedy, adding to the emotional depth. The teaser hints at a showdown between Hyun-ju and Seon-nyeo, who have been at odds with each other. Allies, friends, mothers, and sons are separated into new red and blue designations.
Season 3 will reportedly consist of six intense episodes, making it shorter but potentially more packed than its predecessors. The plot picks up directly after Season 2's conclusion, focusing on Gi-hun's rebellion and the Front Man's growing control.
