Elnaaz Norouzi, the actress known for her role in "Sacred Games" and recently seen on Karan Johar's "The Traitors," has voiced her disappointment with fellow traitor Purav Jha's gameplay. In an exclusive interview, Norouzi claimed that Jha's "dirty play" ultimately hindered their chances of winning the reality game show.
Norouzi expressed her belief that they could have won "The Traitors" together if Jha had understood her strengths and played strategically. She felt that Jha was too focused on eliminating her, failing to recognize the power of having a strong traitor as an ally. "Purav played the game dirty. He kept trying to get me out and replace me because he did not understand the power that I had," she stated. She elaborated that Jha didn't understand that she was a "really good traitor" and that together, they could have won. "It's important to keep good traitors close to you," she explained.
Norouzi felt that Jha stayed under the radar to a certain extent but wasn't a good partner when it came to missions or strategy. She admitted that trusting Purav was her mistake. She wished she could have recruited Jasmine and then "throw her under the bus as a traitor," but Purav didn't allow her to execute this plan.
The actress also revealed that she couldn't act as well as she usually does while lying to Anshula because it "really broke her heart".
During her time on "The Traitors," Elnaaz Norouzi's performance was praised by audiences and fellow contestants alike. Norouzi prepared for six months by reading books on human psychology to improve her game. She aimed to use her "innocent act" to fool her co-contestants. She read "How to Make Your Audience Fall in Love with You," which is about acting, and "The Laws of Human Nature," which gave her insights into understanding the other players.
Norouzi was initially selected as one of the three traitors, along with Raj Kundra and Purav Jha. The premise of the show involves "traitors" eliminating "innocent" contestants while trying to remain undetected. Other contestants included Anshula Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor, Karan Kundrra, Jasmine Bhasin, Ashish Vidyarthi, Harsh Gujral, Jannat Zubair, Janvi Gaur, Lakshmi Manchu, Mukesh Chhabra, Nikita Luther, Raftaar, Sahil Salathia, Sudhanshu Pandey and Sufi Motiwala.
The game took a personal turn when Sahil Salathia, a close friend of Norouzi, was the first to be eliminated after being "murdered" by the traitors. Salathia expressed his disappointment and called Norouzi's actions a "deeply personal betrayal". He felt that Norouzi could have stood up for him, especially considering their eight-year friendship. Salathia said he recommended Elnaaz to the show.
Norouzi, however, found herself isolated early in the game when other contestants chose each other as "trusted ones," leaving her without an ally. She stated that she has faced similar situations throughout her life, where she shows up for people, but they don't always reciprocate.
After being unmasked as a traitor and eliminated, Elnaaz Norouzi said she was overwhelmed by the love and support she received. "I'm honestly overwhelmed… I never imagined this kind of love," she shared. "I gave my heart, my mind, and every bit of effort to this journey, and today, seeing how it connected with all of you, it makes every second worth it".
Following Norouzi's exit, Purav Jha recruited Harsh Gujral as a new traitor. However, some viewers felt that Gujral wasn't the best choice, as his behavior changed noticeably after becoming a traitor.
