Tom Holland is raising expectations for the next installment in the Spider-Man saga, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, claiming it will surpass its predecessor, No Way Home. The fourth film in the MCU Spider-Man series is slated to release on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.

Holland's confidence stems from the film's approach to production and storytelling. He revealed that No Way Home faced significant limitations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing the crew to shoot the entire film on sound stages. Brand New Day, however, will embrace "old-school filmmaking" by utilizing real-world locations, starting with a major set piece filmed in Glasgow, Scotland. Glasgow has served as a backdrop for other major productions, including The Batman and Avengers: Infinity War.

"[P]laying Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal, and I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID. We shot the entire film on stages," Holland said. "Now, we're really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we're starting in Glasgow".

The title Brand New Day is derived from the comic book storyline that followed the controversial "One More Day" arc. In the comics, "Brand New Day" served as a soft reboot, returning Spider-Man to his roots after major status quo changes. Peter Parker finds himself living with Aunt May, struggling to find affordable housing, and working as a photographer for the Daily Bugle once again. The MCU film is expected to follow a similar path, giving Peter Parker a fresh start after the events of No Way Home, where Doctor Strange cast a spell that made the world forget Peter Parker.

Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is helming Brand New Day, with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers returning as screenwriters. While plot details remain scarce, the film is expected to explore a more street-level, grounded story for Spider-Man. The rumored inclusion of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher supports this direction. The cast is expected to include Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Charlie Cox, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jon Bernthal.

Amy Pascal, producer, has indicated that Brand New Day is intended to be the first film in a new trilogy of Spider-Man movies starring Holland. Production is scheduled to begin in August 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England, with location shooting in Glasgow.

While some fans have created their own trailers, anticipation is building for the official release of trailers and further information about the storyline.
