Vivek Oberoi has announced that he will be donating his entire fee from the upcoming film Ramayana: Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, to charity. Oberoi, who is set to play Vibhishan in the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film, revealed that he wants his earnings to go towards helping children with cancer.
In a recent interview, Oberoi stated, "I told Namit (Malhotra, the producer) that I don't want a penny for this. I want to donate it to a cause I believe in: helping kids with cancer". He further expressed his support for the film and the team behind it, stating he loves what they're doing and believes Ramayana will elevate Indian cinema on the global stage.
Ramayana: Part 1 is already generating significant buzz as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, with a scheduled release for Diwali 2026. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Raavan, and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for his previous successes such as Dangal and Chhichhore.
Oberoi has expressed his admiration for the film, calling it "India's answer to Hollywood epics". He believes the story, visuals, and the overall intent behind the film make it truly special. He also lauded the film's association with a company that has won multiple Oscars for VFX, emphasizing the potential to take a truly Indian epic to a global audience.
This isn't the first time Oberoi has been involved in philanthropic work. The actor has a history of supporting various causes, including donating homes for the families of CRPF martyrs and assisting cancer patients.
Besides Ramayana, Vivek Oberoi has several other projects in the pipeline. He will be seen in Mastii 4, a reunion with his fellow actors from the original film. Oberoi described it as a sentimental experience, noting that it has been 21 years since the first film, and his rapport with Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, and director Milap Milan Zaveri remains fantastic. Mastii 4 is slated for a theatrical release on November 21, 2025. Additionally, Oberoi is part of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming action drama Spirit, starring Prabhas.
