Anupam Kher's directorial venture, "Tanvi The Great," is set to grace the screens at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, 2025. The film has been selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama section of the festival. Kher himself announced this exciting news via Instagram, expressing his gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon his film.
"Tanvi The Great" tells a heartwarming story of a young woman named Tanvi, played by newcomer Shubhangi Dutt, who is living with autism and aspires to join the Indian Army, inspired by her late father. The film portrays Tanvi's courageous spirit and her determination to overcome challenges in pursuit of her dream.
The movie boasts an ensemble cast, including Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Karan Tacker, Arvind Swami, Nasser, and British actor Iain Glen, adding depth and global appeal to the narrative. It is produced by Anupam Kher Studios in association with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
Prior to its selection for IFFI 2025, "Tanvi The Great" garnered international recognition during its festival circuit, with screenings at Cannes, New York, London, and Houston. The film also received standing ovations at special screenings held at the National Defence Academy and the Southern Command in Pune. "Tanvi The Great" was initially released in theaters on July 18, 2025, and later re-released on September 26, 2025.
IFFI 2025 is set to showcase over 240 films from 81 countries, including world and Asian premieres. The festival will take place from November 20-28. The inclusion of "Tanvi The Great" in the Indian Panorama section highlights the film's compelling narrative, outstanding performances, and its sensitive portrayal of autism within the context of the Indian Army.
