Amar Kaushik has addressed the swirling rumors regarding Kiara Advani's alleged exit and Aneet Padda's subsequent casting in the upcoming horror-comedy, "Shakti Shalini". Kaushik clarified that Advani was never officially signed for the project, debunking claims of a replacement. He attributed the speculations to "paid PR" tactics aimed at creating negative publicity.
"Kiara is a beautiful actor," Kaushik stated in an interview. "Nothing was confirmed, so I don't know how it came out. I have always wanted to work with Kiara". He emphasized that the reports of Advani's involvement were merely speculative and that Aneet Padda was always the intended lead for "Shakti Shalini". He also added that some people pay to spread negative publicity.
Kaushik expressed his admiration for Aneet Padda, who gained recognition for her role in "Saiyaara". He lauded her talent and suitability for the role in "Shakti Shalini". Addressing the connection between Padda's casting and the success of "Saiyaara," Kaushik implied that Padda's talent was the primary reason for her selection, not merely a reaction to her previous success.
"Shakti Shalini" is the sixth installment in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe (MHCU). The MHCU includes films like "Stree," "Bhediya," "Munjya," "Stree 2," and "Thamma". The announcement of "Shakti Shalini" was initially attached to "Thamma". "Thamma," which was released on Diwali of this year, has collected Rs 131.05 crore in 20 days, but has failed to leave a strong mark at the box office. The film was reportedly produced on a budget of Rs 140-145 crore.
Kaushik also highlighted the potential harm caused by such rumors, noting that they can strain relationships within the film industry. He lamented that these speculations distract from the creative process and require more attention than focusing on the work itself.
