Kalyani Priyadarshan is reportedly set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Ranveer Singh in the upcoming zombie action film Pralay. The film is directed by Jai Mehta and produced by Ranveer Singh under his banner, Maa Kasam Films. True Story Films, led by Hansal Mehta, and Applause Entertainment are co-producing the film.
Priyadarshan, known for her work in Malayalam and Telugu cinema, recently garnered attention for her performance in the fantasy thriller Lokah Chapter One Chandra. Lokah was a major success in Malayalam cinema, becoming the highest-grossing female-led film in India. Industry insiders believe Pralay will be a strategic launch for Priyadarshan in Hindi cinema, positioning her in a large-scale commercial project. Sources indicate that she has already begun preparing for the role, which requires both emotional depth and intense action.
Pralay marks Ranveer Singh's debut as a producer. Following the success of Dhurandhar, Singh is venturing into the zombie genre, which is relatively unexplored in mainstream Hindi cinema. Dhurandhar has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time and the second-biggest Indian film in North America, surpassing Kalki 2898 AD.
Pralay is reportedly being mounted on a significant budget, with extensive VFX and world-building. The film will explore a protagonist's struggle for survival in a dystopian world, using the zombie genre as a metaphor for societal and moral decay. The film is scheduled to begin production in April 2026.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2 is slated to release on March 19, 2026, and will face competition from Yash's Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, which features Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.
