Border 2's Box Office Run: Sunny Deol & Varun Dhawan's Film Slows, Reaches ₹290 Cr in India

The Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan starrer, "Border 2", has experienced a dip in box office earnings on its thirteenth day in theaters, but has still managed to push its India total to ₹290.01 crore. Early estimates suggest the film earned ₹3.26 crore nett in India on Day 13.

The war drama, directed by Anurag Singh, was released on January 23, 2026, and has been a significant talking point since. The film features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in leading roles. "Border 2" is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and is backed by T-Series and J P Films. The movie also stars Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, Pranav Vashisht, and Medha Rana in pivotal roles.

"Border 2" had already created a stir at the box office before its release, earning over ₹200 crore. This revenue included theatre royalties, digital, satellite, and music rights, as well as OTT deals. By the evening of January 22nd, advance bookings were strong, with over 2.27 lakh tickets sold.

Despite the recent dip, "Border 2" has achieved several milestones. By its ninth day in theaters, the film had grossed over ₹350 crore worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film centered on a war or conflict. Domestically, by the same day, it had earned ₹252.25 crore net (₹303 crore gross), including ₹60 crore net on Republic Day. The film's international collection stands at just over $5 million.

"Border 2" has surpassed the collections of other films centered on cross-border conflicts, such as "Uri" (₹342 crore worldwide) and "Fighter" (₹344 crore). However, in terms of footfalls within India, "Border" remains the most successful Indian war film, with over 3.7 crore tickets sold during its initial run.

On its second Friday (January 30), "Border 2" saw a drop in collections to ₹10.75 crore, from ₹11.25 crore the previous day, but picked up on Saturday, registering ₹17.75 crore.

Trade experts have noted the film's potential, with one analyst anticipating it could reach up to ₹600 crore in lifetime business. The film's success in non-metro markets has also been a focal point.

Sunny Deol shared a video on social media, thanking fans for their love and support for "Border 2". He also celebrated the film's success with his team.
