Sunburn Festival 2025 is gearing up to be an electrifying experience as it moves to Mumbai for the first time, scheduled to take place from December 19th to 21st. Asia's largest electronic dance music (EDM) festival promises a star-studded lineup headlined by Axwell, David Guetta, and Richie Hawtin, alongside other world-class supporting acts.
After years of being held in Goa, the festival is relocating to Maharashtra's capital, seeking new opportunities and aiming to provide a dynamic urban experience. According to Sunburn's official statement, a recent survey indicated that fans are curious to experience the festival beyond Goa, with a clear preference for Mumbai. The move also follows growing local opposition and bureaucratic challenges encountered in Goa.
The three-day celebration will feature top-notch production, jaw-dropping stage designs, cutting-edge visuals, and immersive experiences. Attendees can expect curated lounges and brand zones, alongside gourmet experiences. The festival aims to redefine the landscape and offer an elevated experience.
Swedish DJ Axwell has joined the lineup alongside David Guetta and Sara Landry. David Guetta's performance will be a part of his Monolith tour. The festival has been headlined by other major artists in the past, including Timmy Trumpet, Peggy Gou, Skrillex, Alesso, Afrojack, and Martin Garrix.
Sunburn first took place in Vagator, Goa, in 2007. The festival briefly moved to Pune between 2016 and 2018 before returning to Goa.
Tickets for Sunburn Festival 2025 will be available on BookMyShow. An exclusive 48-hour presale will be available for RuPay credit card holders.
The theme for Sunburn 2025 is "Ascend: Beyond the Real," which aims to reimagine the festival experience into something more immersive and otherworldly. The festival will feature top-tier international and Indian acts, along with elaborate stage designs.
Atul Patne, Principal Secretary of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, welcomed the move, stating that Maharashtra has always been at the forefront of shaping India's cultural and entertainment economy, with music being a vital part of that vision.
Sunburn Festival is known for showcasing various sub-genres of EDM, including house, techno, trance, and trap. The festival includes multiple stages playing different genres simultaneously. In addition to the music, attendees can enjoy art installations, flea markets, and adventure sports.
