Shekhar Ravjiani Shares Cataract Surgery Experience: Four Years of Hazy Vision Corrected

Mumbai, Oct 29 - In a recent social media post, acclaimed music composer Shekhar Ravjiani revealed that he underwent cataract surgery after struggling with hazy vision for the past four years. The artist, known for his work as part of the Vishal-Shekhar duo, shared his journey with fans, opening up about the challenges he faced and his initial hesitation towards surgery.

Ravjiani recounted how, after previously undergoing LASIK to correct high-powered glasses from childhood, his vision unexpectedly deteriorated again approximately four years ago. This decline led to a diagnosis of cataracts, a clouding of the natural lens in the eye. He described his vision as "perpetually hazy," which impacted his daily life, both on and off the stage.

"Lenses never felt comfortable, and glasses always seemed overpowering," Ravjiani explained in his post. The compromised vision created difficulties in recognizing people, sometimes leading to awkward social situations. "Sometimes I said an excited 'Hiiii' to someone without a clue as to who they were! And then sometimes an unintentionally cold 'Hi' to someone who I knew very well," he shared.

Despite his initial fears, Ravjiani eventually decided to undergo cataract surgery after consulting with several doctors. He expressed relief and optimism about the future, stating, "Here's to kickstarting my new journey of the next 25 years filled with new dreams, new beginnings and more music than ever!".

The music composer also reflected on how he would find himself pushing up imaginary glasses on his nose, a habit he developed after years of wearing spectacles. Ravjiani's openness about his experience aims to inspire others facing similar health challenges. He captioned his post, "Not everything always goes as planned - Life throws curveballs...and that's when your faith always has to be greater than your fear".

Cataracts are a common age-related condition, but they can also occur due to other factors such as genetics, medical conditions, or eye injuries. The surgery to remove cataracts is a generally safe and effective procedure that can significantly improve vision. Shekhar Ravjiani's willingness to share his personal health journey can encourage others to seek timely medical attention and overcome their anxieties related to medical procedures.
