Baramulla EXCLUSIVE: Manav Kaul & Bhasha Sumbli On Filming In Kashmir, Fears & Kashmiri Roots | N18V

The upcoming supernatural thriller "Baramulla," set against the backdrop of Kashmir, explores a haunting mystery of disappearing children. The film features Manav Kaul as DSP Ridwaan Shafi Sayyid, tasked with uncovering the truth behind the unsettling events, and Bhasha Sumbli as his wife, Gulnaar. The trailer, recently released, offers a glimpse into the eerie world of "Baramulla," where silence feels heavier than sound.

Manav Kaul describes his character, DSP Ridwaan, as a complex individual, and believes that the winter backdrop enhances the series' chilling blend of horror and suspense. He expressed his deep connection with Kashmir and how the series captures the region in a unique and beautiful way. "Even for me, it felt like rediscovering the valley through a new lens," Kaul shared. He also recalled a tense moment during filming when a real-life earthquake struck. Despite the chaos and his initial fear, the crew continued filming until the director called cut.

Bhasha Sumbli, who is originally from Baramulla, felt a strong connection to the script. Being a Kashmiri, she felt it was a sign from the universe to tell the stories of the valley with honesty and sincerity. Sumbli's connection to Kashmir is profound, and she has spoken about her family's experiences during the exodus. She played Sharda Pandit in "The Kashmir Files" and has revealed the emotional toll it took on her, even suffering a panic attack while filming one of the scenes. Despite the difficult subject matter, she believes it's important to tell these stories with authenticity.

"Baramulla" delves into the socio-political tensions of the valley, intertwining them with the supernatural mystery. As DSP Ridwaan investigates the child disappearances, he uncovers secrets buried beneath the surface, leading to strange happenings within his own home. The film explores the fear that lives within us, the fear of what the mind refuses to accept.

The film is created by Aditya Dhar, with Aditya Suhas Jambhale serving as both creator and director. It is co-produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar and will be released on Netflix on November 7, 2025. The cast also includes Arista Mehta and Rohaan Singh. "Baramulla" promises to be a gripping thriller that will leave audiences questioning what's real and what isn't.
