Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his immense pride and affection for his grandson, Agastya Nanda, following the release of the trailer for Agastya's upcoming war drama, Ikkis. The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan, tells the inspiring story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India's youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee.
Bachchan shared a heartfelt message on social media, reminiscing about the days when he held Agastya as a baby. He wrote, "Agastya! I held you in my hands as soon as you were born... few months later, I held you again in my hands and your soft fingers reached out to play with my beard... TODAY you play in Theatres all over the World". He further added, "You are SPECIAL.. all my prayers and blessings to you.. may you ever bring glory to your work and the greatest PRIDE for the family".
The Ikkis trailer, which was released on Wednesday, introduces Agastya Nanda as the 21-year-old Arun Khetarpal, who demonstrated extraordinary bravery during the Indo-Pak war. The trailer depicts his journey from the National Defence Academy to the battlefield, highlighting his unwavering determination to bring honor to his country. The film also features a love story, with Simar Bhatia playing Arun's romantic interest. The cast includes Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Agastya Nanda's father, Nikhil Nanda, also shared his pride in a Facebook post, calling Agastya's portrayal of Arun Khetarpal a "moving tribute to courage and our nation's spirit". Social media users have also praised Agastya's performance in the trailer, with many expressing surprise at his acting abilities and noting how well he embodies the character of a 21-year-old soldier. Ikkis marks Agastya Nanda's first theatrical release, following his OTT debut in The Archies in 2023. The film is scheduled to be released in December 2025.
