Britney Spears has once again deactivated her Instagram account, leaving fans wondering about the reasons behind her social media departure. As of November 2, 2025, her profile is inaccessible, displaying a message indicating the account may have been removed. This disappearance follows a period of heightened headlines surrounding her personal life, including pointed online exchanges with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
Spears' recent activity on Instagram included videos of herself dancing, often in revealing outfits, which sparked concern among some fans. Of particular note were videos featuring her sons, Jayden James, 19, and Sean Preston, 20, with comments disabled. In early October, she shared a video displaying bruised arms and bandaged wrists, explaining she had fallen down the stairs while her sons were in Hawaii.
The timing of Spears' Instagram exit coincides with escalating tensions between her and Federline. In mid-October, Spears publicly called out Federline for "constantly gaslighting" her. This accusation came in response to claims Federline made in his upcoming memoir, "You Thought You Knew". Federline's book contains allegations of Spears' infidelity, drug and alcohol abuse, and questions about the impact of ending her conservatorship. He also alleges that Spears used cocaine while breastfeeding their sons.
Spears has strongly denied these accusations. In her own memoir, "The Woman In Me," Spears claimed her marriage to Federline was "tainted by fame". She suggested Federline was overly focused on the attention and power that came with being associated with her.
Federline's claims in his memoir include an alleged incident where he found Spears and a friend using cocaine at his 2006 album release party, with Spears supposedly wearing a blue wig and making no attempt to hide her actions. He claims he confronted Spears, who responded by throwing a drink at him. Federline also alleges that Spears would stand over their sleeping sons holding a knife.
In response to Federline's allegations, Spears accused him of "constant gaslighting" and expressed her longing to have a stronger relationship with her sons. She stated that her sons have witnessed a lack of respect from their father towards her and that one son had only seen her for 45 minutes in the past five years, while the other had only visited four times in the same period. A representative for Spears stated that Federline was profiting off of her and that Spears only cares about the well-being of her sons.
This isn't the first time Spears has deactivated her Instagram account. She has taken breaks from the platform in the past, including in September 2021 during her conservatorship battle. At that time, sources indicated that her decision was a way to send a "powerful message" and that "silence can be a powerful thing".
