Harriet Herbig-Matten and Damian Hardung are promising an even more captivating return to Maxton Hall as Season 2 prepares to premiere on November 7, 2025. The German-language drama series, which became a global hit after its debut in May 2024, was quickly renewed for a second season.
Adapted from Mona Kasten's trilogy, the series revolves around Ruby Bell, a determined scholarship student at the prestigious Maxton Hall, and James Beaufort, the wealthy heir to a family fortune. Season 2 picks up where the first season left off, following the passionate night Ruby and James spent together in Oxford. Ruby's dreams seem to be falling into place, but a family tragedy changes everything for James, bringing Ruby "back from cloud nine to a harsh reality".
The official synopsis reveals Ruby's longing for her "old life back," before she was known at Maxton Hall and entangled in the elitist world. Despite the heartache, she can't forget James, who is determined to win her back.
In an interview, Harriet Herbig-Matten hinted at the heightened drama in the upcoming season, stating that viewers can expect "a lot of drama and ups and downs". She also emphasized Ruby's personal growth, saying that Ruby is setting boundaries and not changing herself for James. Herbig-Matten also highlighted the focus on female friendships in the new season, particularly the relationships between Ruby, Lydia, Lin, and Ember.
Damian Hardung shared that Season 2 will be "much bleaker, but also more honest in a way and more grown up". He added that James is changing and working on himself. Hardung expressed his pride in the second season, stating that the entire team put incredible energy into filming to make it "even more special".
The premiere of Maxton Hall: The World Between Us Season 2 was held in Berlin on October 17, where Hardung and Herbig-Matten appeared hand-in-hand, sparking romance speculation among fans due to their affectionate behavior. Videos and images of the pair went viral, with fans commenting on their palpable chemistry.
Sonja Weißer, who plays Lydia Beaufort, teased the emotional tension of the season, stating that viewers can expect "a lot of dark emotions, a lot of drama, a lot of trust that is getting broken, grieving, but new friendships".
The first three episodes of Maxton Hall Season 2 will be released on November 7, with new episodes following every Friday until the finale on November 28. The series will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
Alongside Herbig-Matten and Hardung, other returning cast members include Sonja Weißer, Ben Felipe, Fedja van Huêt, Runa Greiner, Justus Riesner, Andrea Guo, and Eli Riccardi. New additions to the cast include Dagny Dewath as Ophelia Beaufort, Proschat Madani as Alice Campbell, Anna Lucia Gustmann as May Clancey, Basil Eidenbenz as Frederick Ellington, Laura de Boer as Mortimer's new assistant, and Kiro Ebra as Forest.
